LTSB is proud to announce the graduation of 26 members of its third intake (2014/2015) last Thursday.
ICAP were not only the generous host of this event, but in addition ICAP's founder and CEO Michael Spencer delivered the Commencement Address.
This graduation represents a tremendous achievement by these young adults. Not only did they pass their level 2 and 3 AAT in accounting but they also maintained their apprenticeship for 12 months with their employer, attended many guest speaker events and employability workshops, participated in a Mock Trial at Southwark Crown Court and competed in the annual LTSB Business Game Challenge. Furthermore they worked with their football Club Foundations and Trusts (West Ham or Leyton Orient) to achieve Coaching Certificates and Mentoring, life skills and leadership development before committing themselves to coaching and mentoring young children.
Before giving out the awards to the young people who successfully completed our 2014-15 programme, we took the opportunity to recognise three champions of our charity:
Michael Spencer then gave the commencement address. He stressed the need for resilience, persistence, keeping one's cool, learning from and analyzing the reasons for one's inevitable mistakes, having a passion for what you do, being inquisitive, keeping current and continuously learning, the pleasure of giving back and the importance of making the most of good luck when it comes. It was a tour de force that was enjoyed by all present - graduating students and all of the rest of us!
I was delighted to have Michael Spencer join me to hand out certificates to all the graduating students:
Finally we announced our Apprentice of the Year
Devraj Singh Sira:
Member of the Leyton Orient Trust & College of Haringey Enfield and North East London cohort
Employed by RSM at the end of his apprenticeship
Member of the West Ham United Foundation & Newham College cohort
Employed by Phoenix Equity Partners at the end of his apprenticeship
Photos of the graduation can be viewed on our Facebook page.
I would like to personally congratulate everyone who graduated last Thursday and to wish the graduates of our programme every success in their future careers. I look forward to hearing about your progress over the coming years and seeing you at our Alumni events.
Finally I would like to thank all the employers who supported our programme in 2015 and hired our apprentices, many of whom have also employed these young people at the end of the programme and continue to hire apprentices in 2016.
