Leadership Through Sport & Business is a social mobility charity that gives bright young people who lack social capital access to careers in accounting and finance.
Our life-changing nineteen-month apprenticeship programme doesn’t just improve employability; it results in employment. Through intensive training with LTSB, football club foundations and blue-chip companies, our participants are developed personally and professionally, and better prepared for the business world. The successful outcomes are rewarding to see: we’re proud to have supported 232 young people over the first five intakes (2012-2016) and we are currently recruiting circa 100 young people to join our programme in September 2017.
We work with Manchester City, Chelsea, West Ham United, Aston Villa and Leyton Orient’s foundations to deliver coaching, mentoring and leadership skills. We also work with selected education delivery partners including Kaplan, College of Haringey Enfield & North East London, Newham College and Ealing, Hammersmith and West London College to deliver academic qualifications. In 2017 we launched our programme in Liverpool with Liverpool FC Foundation and Kaplan.
Our programme consists of two phases: a four month unpaid pre-apprenticeship training and a 15 month paid Apprenticeship with world class companies.
In the first four months, candidates are given the training and skills to succeed through:
15-month paid apprenticeships with employers such as BKL, Bayerische Landesbank, Carpetright, Close Brothers, Colgate Palmolive, Deloitte, EY, Grant Thornton, Johnson Matthey, Macquarie Group, NEX Plc, Redington, Rolls Royce, RSM, The Co-operative Bank, Zenith Bank and many others including ongoing personal and professional development by LTSB.
